Monday, November 26th, 2007

Unfortunately side effects of using Accupril cannot be anticipated. If you feel that you develop any of side effects or feel that intensity of it is changing apply to your doctor as soon as possible. Only your doctor can determine whether it is safe for you to continue taking Accupril.

If you experience any allergic reaction after taking Accupril: difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives you should stop taking medication and immediately apply to doctor.

Call your doctor immediately if you have any of these serious side effects:

* chest pain;
* feeling light-headed, fainting;
* urinating more or less than usual, or not at all;
* pale skin, easy bruising or bleeding;
* fever, chills, body aches, flu symptoms;
* severe blistering, peeling, and red skin rash;
* tired feeling, muscle weakness, and pounding or uneven heartbeats;
* swelling, rapid weight gain; or
* jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).

You can also develop less serious side effects, such as:

* cough;
* muscle pain;
* dizziness, drowsiness, headache;
* nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach pain; or
* mild skin itching or rash.

Some other minor side effects can also appear. Consult with your doctor about any of them that bother you.

If any of side effects persist or worsen, notify your health care provider or pharmacist promptly.

Celebrex cardiovascular side effects

Friday, November 16th, 2007

Celebrex is within the group of NSAID medications. As many other representatives of this group it can increase the possibility of heart attack or stroke resulting in death. The risk may become even higher if you have heart disease or use NSAIDs for a long period of time. You should always consult a doctor before you start taking Celebrex.

At the beginning of this year, there was a consensus reached concerning the link between COX-2 drugs and heart disease risk: The strongestevidence for cardiovascular side effects was for Vioxx and Bextra, intermediate for Celebrex, and quite weak for naproxen.

Right now, the FDA has three basic options of what to do about safety of Celebrex: It can recall a drug, threaten to recall it, or order the manufacturer to change the drug’s label. Some reformers would like to see the agency have further flexibility — for instance, to temporarily suspend the sale of a drug while its safety record is examined.

Main serious cardiovascular side effects occurred in 0.1-1.9% of people taking Celebrex are as follows: Aggravated hypertension, angina pectoris, coronary artery disorder, myocardial infarction, syncope, congestive heart failure, ventricular fibrillation, pulmonary embolism, cerebrovascular accident, peripheral gangrene, thrombophlebitis, vasculitis, deep venous thrombosis.
